EFG Rapotín BPS: Special report on the flood situation

16. September 2024

The Jeseníky and Šumperk regions are the most affected areas of the current floods. The municipality of Rapotín was not spared from the floods, which, according to current estimates, were caused by more than centenery flood. However, the EFG Rapotín BPS biogas plant survived this crisis situation unscathed. Thanks to the efforts of our team and the employees of the surrounding companies, who worked well beyond the call of duty last week, the biogas plant was prepared in such a way that there was no damage to either the technology or the facility itself.

Any technology that could have been damaged by the water was taken to safety on high ground. Landscaping was carried out on the site, which ultimately prevented water from entering the biogas plant. Nevertheless, sandbags were prepared at the crisis points. Another measure to prevent damage was the reinforcement of the river bank.

We will not underestimate the flood risk in the future. CTO Pavel Bureš is already considering the landscaping process to make the facility ready for a possible even higher flow of the local Desná river.

The Rapotín municipality was severely affected by the floods and many houses were flooded by the local flows. The management of EFG Rapotín BPS is in constant contact with its employees in the area as well as with the local government. It has already pledged financial assistance to the municipality and will continue to cooperate with them.
